David Ford changed his plea from not guilty to no contest on charges of 3rd degree assault which is a Class I misdemeanor at his pre-trial the morning of November 28. He was subsequently found guilty of the charges by the Honorable Judge Randin Roland based on the factual evidence presented by the prosecuting attorney.
The charges stem from an August 3 incident, during which Ford allegedly grabbed Amie Rutledge around the neck after she entered city offices to complain about water department activities. Ford was originally charged with strangulation, but the charges were later changed due to the incident not meeting state requirements for strangulation.
Ford will next appear in court for sentencing on January 9 at 10:30 a.m. Ford faces a maximum of one year in jail along with a maximum fine of $1,000.
