The Potter Dix one act play team took home fourth place at state competitions Thursday, December 6, at the Merryman Performing Arts Center in Kearney for their play, “MacBeth: A Tale of Darkness”.
“We were in a new theater which was a lot bigger and more impressive. The kids thought it was great, and they really rose to the challenge,” director Beth Bogert said.
According to Bogert, it was somewhat of a bittersweet experience.
“I was proud of them. They did a great job. They gave a nice performance, and we just ended up with fourth. But we did have eight kids get recognized for outstanding acting. So it’s kind of bittersweet,” Bogert said.
Even though the state competitions just finished, Bogert and her actors are already starting to look forward to the next play.
“The kids are already talking about next year. Some of them want to go back to a comedy and some of them really like the darkness of this play so they want to stick with something serious. Probably in about a month or two I’ll start looking at plays for next year,” Bogert said.
