Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
City Administrator Harold Farrar attended his last city council meeting the night of December 4. Farrar was sent off with a showing of gratitude and appreciation from Mayor James Schnell.
“It’s been one of those things where you know when you come in that you’re going to lay the facts out on the table and say what you think, not on a personal matter, but you make sure that the City of Kimball is right up there and looking out for the city itself and you’d never do anything to harm the city,” Schnell said.
Members of the City Council also shared their appreciation for Farrar individually one after the other with new Council President Kim Christensen commenting on his approach to helping the council with their decisions.
“You have been a good person to come into city council, because you informed us without influencing us. You never made me feel like I was wrong. You knew things and influenced in a good way. As a friend and as the administrator of our city, I appreciate you,” Christensen said.
As a parting gift from the council Farrar was offered a sum of $200 as a show of appreciation for his diligence over the years. However, he decided to give the money away to the Kimball Hospital Foundation with Kerry Ferguson accepting the check on behalf of the foundation.
Farrar offered up his own words at the closing of the meeting encouraging the public to appreciate the city’s staff and to compliment the city’s staff on the quality of work that they do.
“It’s been an honor to serve the citizens of Kimball. You have tremendous people working here. You really need to appreciate them, all the public needs to appreciate them every day. You don’t worry whether your water is going to come on or your sewer’s going to go away or your lights going to go on or that your snows going to get plowed. Everything is taken care of, and our staff does a tremendous job. So just continue to appreciate them and support them. That’s important,” Farrar said.
Farrar’s official last day in office as City Administrator of Kimball is December 13.
