Do You Believe That Our Children Are Safe In Schools

Amy Grant “I’d like to, but I don’t think we can. There are too many elements involved. Nothing is certain.”

Joy Paulson “No, I don’t believe they’re safe, because there are so many sick people out there and they need help. It could happen anywhere like Columbine, and in Oklahoma there have been threats. It’s scary.”

Bev Little “No, they’re not safe. If they were safe than this killing stuff wouldn’t be going on. I am glad I’m at the age that I can’t have kids because of that. My grandchildren I worry about.

Shawn Wattam “I think for the most part, yes. Some things have to change. I think short of making our schools prisons, you could heighten security. I think if they had someone in the staff who was there and is armed, it would deter someone from trying anything. Another thing, a lot of schools only have one door in and out of the classroom. If someone were to come in, there’s no way to escape. If someone were to come in, there’s no way to escape. If there were multiple doors in a situation like this, maybe at least five or six kids could get out before the carnage happens. There are a lot of solutions to this problem.”

Ed Newbury “Yes, it’s such a rare thing for a tragedy like that to happen. It does not happen all the time.”
