Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
As I sit down to write this last newsletter of 2012, I cannot help but remember when we on the brink of the new century, back in 1999. Some folks were pretty sure that the world was coming to an end. And most recently of course all of the hoopla about the Mayan calendar and the same fear in the hearts of some folks once again. And here we are!!
Ushering in 2013--it just doesn’t seem like twelve years have passed this this century began. The time just keeps going faster and faster. I for one am really in the need of this Christmas break from school. Nothing against school, it is just always sooo busy! It is great to have the kids home (and sometimes I have to remind myself of that) and the family time. A time to be quiet and a time to enjoy their constant excitement!
I am looking at the approaching New Year as a time for re-newel and improvement. I had a young man ask me what my New Year’s resolution was the other day. My first thought was to tell him “eat more chocolate,” but I behaved myself and told him my plan was to drink less pop. Fat chance, since that hasn’t happened a whole lot in the last twenty years or so.
The elementary students all went to the Heritage Village Friday, December 21 and entertained the folks. I had mail from our friend and neighbor who now is at the Heritage, Carol Tucker, who lived for many years here in Banner County. At the same time the varsity girls and boys basketball teams were headed back to Sioux County to finish competing in the Holiday Tournament there. That will be the end of sports for the next two weeks.
School resumes Friday, January 4, 2013 for the students, and one day earlier for staff. Second semester will begin and they will be off and running once again.
