Marian Bendixen

Marian J. Bendixen, 92, a longtime Kimball resident, died at the Kimball County Manor on Sunday, January 20, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball with Pastor Amanda Esping officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view the obituary and leave condolences for the family. Memorials may be given to the Kimball County Manor/Assisted Living for the purchase of a Med Cart. The services for Marian have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Marian J. Bendixen was born in Kimball on January 20, 1921, the daughter of Dr. A.E. and Molly Moss. She was raised and attended school in Kimball and graduated from the Kimball County High School in 1939. She was married to Gene Bendixen in Sidney on July 5, 1939. The family lived in Kimball and Marian worked with her husband while he was the Kimball Deputy Treasure and then as Kimball County Treasurer for 14 years. They owned Bonded Abstracts. They retired in 1977. She enjoyed traveling and taking many trips with family and friends and enjoyed playing golf. She loved to cook and enjoyed sharing meals with family and friends. Marian loved to knit, and she taught many of the Kimball residents this art. She also enjoyed making ceramics.

Survivors include her daughter Jo (Bill) Calvert of Wichita, KS; son John Bendixen of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren Debbie Schwindt, Amy (Terry) Sorensen , Valorie (Jack) Bendixen-Petska, Lori Bendixen, Deena (Jeff) Schmidt, John Bendixen, Jr., and Jacob Bendixen; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, sisters Lucille and Florence and two brothers, Victor and Eads, preceded her in death.
