Potter-Dix dominates MAC meet at Chappell

With the weather finally cooperating, both the Potter-Dix and Banner County track teams took to refocusing on their seasons, which have been marred by uncooperative weather over the past month.

At the end of the day, though, it was Potter-Dix who seemingly did not miss a beat after the recent layoff, as they trounced the rest of the field, totaling 268 total team points, winning the meet.

The female portion of the Potter-Dix team took second place, narrowly missing out on taking home a victory. Leyton finished with just four points more than Potter-Dix, 128 to 124.

The boys claimed first place in the meet by more than 40 points, with 144 points out of a possible 519. Banner County finished fourth in the boys categories overall.

Potter-Dix girls and boys 4x800 meter relay teams placed first in their respective races, and Regyn Hicks and Kaidee Livingstone finished 1-2 in the girls 100 meter hurdles preliminaries to help contribute to the team’s overall success.

Livingstone went on to win the finals, as well, while Hicks finished third.

Tyson Dahlgrin of Banner County took the boys 110 meter hurdles, followed by Cooper and Coby Hicks, as well as Peter Willey of Potter-Dix.

Kate Woten of Potter-Dix won the girls 3200 meter run, and was followed by Amanda Harrison of Banner County and Ryley Hicks of Potter-Dix.

In the boys 1600 meter run, Jake Johnson of Potter-Dix took first place with a time of 5:00:30. Brenton Soule of Banner County placed fourth, with a time of 5:46:80.

The Garden County 4x100 meter girls relay team took first place with a time of 54:40. The team consisted of Alicia Ehrlich, Jenna Alworth, Alisha Heelan and Karissa Brehmer.

Potter-Dix finished just behind Garden County, with a time of 55:90, put together by teammates Regyn Hicks, Kaidee Livingstone, Hope Shepard and Conner Wolff.

Leyton took home first place in the girls 4x400 meter relay, followed by Potter-Dix, whose team was made up of Kinley Vowers, Morgan Wolff, Tiffany Lewis and Hope Shepard. Their final time was 5:01:80.

In the boys long jump, Potter-Dix took three of the top seven spots in the finals. Kelsey Rozelle placed second, Brady Knigge finished third and Caleb Shaw came in seventh.

Kaden Huber placed second in the boys high jump for Banner County, and Taylor Evans finished third for Banner County in the girls high jump event.

Cody Aure took home first place in the boys shot put, with a distance of 44-08.00. Thomas Wilbur, a teammate of Aure, placed fourth with a distance of 39-09.00.

Steven Bryan Knigge of Potter Dix won the boys pole vault event, with a height of 12-07.00, which was a school record. His female teammate, Kaidee Livingstone, won the girls equivalent, with a height of 10-00.00, which was also a school record.

In the discuss throw for boys, the highest local finisher was Trevor Harris, who threw 106-02, which was good enough for a seventh place finish.
