Ellen L. Pinkerton, 78, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Monday, November 25, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Virgil Johnson officiating. Burial will be held in Titusville, PA at a later date. Ellen Louise Pinkerton was born in Titusville, PA on October 13, 1936, the daughter of Frank and Isabelle (Rigby) Christy. She received her education in Titusville and graduated from Coldstock High School in 1955. Ellen then attended God's Bible School College in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in Theology. She then worked at Brainerd Indian School in Hot Springs, South Dakota. She met fellow employee Harold James Pinkerton, Sr. and they were married on November 19, 1961 in Tryon, Nebraska. To this union six children were born. Ellen was known for her cake decorating and baked breads and donuts. She was also accomplished at crocheting. She crocheted a green and white table cover that she sent to President George Bush. She received a thank you from the White House and was told that it was on display in the White House. She made numerous sinter hats for Boys Town USA and also sent several overseas and also the Indian Reservations for children that needed them. In 1978 her husband became ill and she worked outside of the home at the Presbyterian Home as a cook and then later as a nurse's aid.
Survivors include her children Harold (Regina) Pinkerton of Kinsmen, OH., Stephen (Carin) Pinkerton of Kimball, NE., Daniel (Wilma) Pinkerton of Charlotte, NC., Esther (William) Warren of Guys Mills, PA., and Susan Carl of Titusville, PA; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, daughter Martha Pinkerton on December 6, 2004, and husband Harold Pinkerton, Sr. on November 14, 2012
