Kenneth attended grade school at School District 22, and graduated from Bushnell High School in 1939. He attended an Agriculture Course at UNL. Kenneth spent his life as a farmer, running cattle, and at one time raised sheep.
Kenneth married Shirley Ruth Schmidt June 3, 1950. They were the parents of Gary Lynn, Gregory Lee, and Kenton Scott. His oldest son, Gary, was killed in a tragic accident near the family farm in 1967.
Kenneth was a faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church at Bushnell for 68 years, serving as an officer, and on many boards. He was a lifetime member of the American Rifle Association, belonged to the Bushnell Lion's Club, served on Election Boards, but his first love was farming. He was still farming at the age of 86.
Kenneth and Shirley moved from the farm and lived in Bushnell in 1989. Kenneth enjoyed the morning coffee at the Community Center, visiting with friends, and was always happy to help others. In 2008, they moved to Vista Villa in Kimball. Shirley passed away a few months after. Kenneth enjoyed playing pool, and shared coffee time with life-long neighbors.
Kenneth was an avid reader and a jack of all trades, joking that he graduated from the school of hard knocks. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a gift of story telling, and loved to visit. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, son Gary, parents, and two sisters, Maxine and Gwendolyn.
