Shirley L. Minshall, age 85 of Sidney, NE passed away Friday morning, December 27, 2013 at the Sidney Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 3rd in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Hyde officiating. Services will conclude at the church with cremation to follow. Inturnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1-7:00 P.M.

Shirley Louise Minshall, the daughter of Elmer Herman and Rena Marie (Schuck) Seyfang, was born on July 20, 1928 at Kimball, NE. She was raised in Potter, attended the Potter Schools and worked in the family business, "Seyfang Grocery". Shirley met Malvin Minshall while he was delivering soda to her parent's store. Their first date was at her grandfather's dance hall in Potter. On February 29, 1948 they were united in marriage at her parent's home in Potter. They made their first home in Sterling, CO where son Jason was born before moving to Sidney in 1950. In 1954 they moved into their present home where they raised their four children. She worked for several years cooking at a local day care, was a homemaker and ran her own square dance apparel shop "Sam's Place". Shirley was a member of Eastern Star for more than fifty years and traveled across the U.S. and Canada for more than fifty years with Mal as he called more square dances than anyone could count. She was inducted into the NE Square & Round Dance Callers Association Hall of Fame for outstanding and lasting contribution to Square Dancing on September 18, 2010.
Survivors include her husband Malvin of Sidney; son: Jason Lee Minshall of Sidney; (2) daughters: Sylvia Louise Minshall–Dyer of Dublin, OH and Kim Michelle Hudson of Tucson, AZ; (1) sister: Joy Hare of Sidney; (8) grandchildren; (13) great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, (1) daughter: Yvonne CaCiel Lippstrew on March 9, 1979 and (1) sister: Berniece Hunter.
