Lady Longhorns looking to shoot better and cut turnovers

The Kimball Lady Longhorns are 4-2 at the Holiday break but coach Chauncey Pedersen is looking to cut down on turn overs and improve the shooting of the team as they gear up for the return to play this week.

The Kimball girls are shooting 28% from the field including 30% on 2 point shots from the floor and 23% from three point range. The turnover total for the 6 games is 118 or just under 20 per game. In other team totals Kimball has scored 260 points averaging 43.3 and have allowed 241 points or 40.1 per game. Foul shooting is fairly good as the Lady Horns have converted 64 of 102 for'63% with Laura Flores leading in this department at 82% making 9/11. Kimball averages 27.5 rebounds and 11.5 steals.

Individually, sophomore Danika Daum leads the scoring with 90 points averaging 15 per game while shooting 32% from the field and a team high 36% on 2 point attempts. She is also top rebounder with 58 and averages 9.7 per game, and also leads the team in blocks with 5 and steals with 17 and has 8 assists. Senior Shelby Vogel is averaging in double figure scoring at 11.3 with her 68 points. Kelly Green has scored 44 points, leads the team in field goal percentage of 37%, and shoots 41% on treys making 7/17 for another team high.

She shoots well at the line also and has 12 steals. Jessica Hanks has 26 points and 27 rebounds. Brooke Hager 14 points and a team leading 11 assists. Laura Flores has 13 points and 9 assists.

Kimball's two losses came at the hands of two very good ball clubs in Dundy County and Hershey, but they have held their own in wins over Southeast, Perkins County, Morrill and Bayard. Like the boys, they will face some strong competition as they return to play with Mitchell, Sidney, and Pine Bluffs.
