Ruth Shepard, 93, of Westminster, California, passed peacefully on January 5, 2014.
Ruth was born to Fred and Ella Brodine, July 15, 1920, in Elm Creek, Nebraska. She attended school in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, and married Harry Stahla in 1939. They resided in the Kimball, Nebraska area. She had three children (Harry, Marilyn, and Barbara). Ruth worked a variety of jobs throughout her life- farming, food services, banking, and dog grooming.
In 1961, she married Harry Shepard of Cheyenne, Wyoming and helped to raise his five children (Dennis, Roy, Steve, Keith and Roxanne). Upon retirement in 1982, Ruth and Harry moved to Marana, Arizona. They traveled areas of Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, California and Nevada. They enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, horseback riding and family gatherings. Ruth is remembered for her cooking, fishing ability, sewing, crocheting and love of animals and children.
Ruth is survived by her children: Harry Stahla (Rosemary) Brighton, CO; Marilyn Stevens (Ken) Westminster, CA; Barbara Clark (Jerry) Menifee, CA; Dennis Shepard (Judy) Casper, WY; Roy Shepard (Julie) Gilbert, AZ; Steve Shepard (Brenda) Aurora, CO; Keith Shepard (Carla) Antioch, TN; and Roxanne Eaton (Robert) Reno, NV, 17 grandchildren and 18 Great- Grandchildren.
Her husband, Harry, her grandson, Matthew, granddaughter, Mitzi, her parents, and sisters, Elsie, Fern, and Ruby, preceded Ruth in death.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, May 31st, at 10:30 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church of Kimball, Nebraska. Internment followed at the Kimball Cemetery. A luncheon reception was held at the Eagles Club.
The Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball, Nebraska, made arrangements for the service and burial.
