Betty Jo Steele, 90, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Sunday, June 8, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father James Joseph officiating. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view the obituary and leave condolences for the family. Memorials have been established to Kimball Friends of the Library at 118 S. Walnut, Kimball, NE., 69145. The services for Betty Jo have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Josephine (Betty Jo) Steele was born on June 8, 1924 to John and Clara (McManus) Burger, the youngest of five girls and four boys, in Greeley, Colorado. She lived in many different states including Arizona, Idaho, California, Washington and Alaska before settling in Kimball during the mid-fifties.
She was united in marriage to Maurice "Stub" Steele on December 11, 1957. Betty Jo worked at Fritzler Law Office and was a Registered Abstracter for many years. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, reading, fishing, gambling and traveling to visit her children.
Survivors include her children Hoke (Becky) MacMillan of Anthem, AZ., Cinde (Gary) MacMillan of Denver, CO., Debora (Jim) Huff of Florence, AZ., and Step-daughters Joan (Arkie) Pruett of Kimball, NE., and Janet Wells of Englewood, FL., and Dian Comer of Independence, MO; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers and sisters.
