Mildred Alice Johnson, 89, of Gering, formerly of Banner County, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Heritage Estates in Gering.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 20, 2014, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Ken Boston officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park at Scottsbluff.

Mildred was born December 8, 1924, on her uncle's farm at Watertown, Nebraska to Ed and Vida (Hanks) Soule. She lived on a farm in Banner County with her parents and two brothers, Roy and Clarence. She attended grade school at District No. 61, a county school in southwestern Banner County at Harrisburg. Mildred graduated from Banner County High School in 1942, staying all four years in the dormitory. In 1942 and 1943 she attended Scottsbluff College and earned a Teacher's Certificate. She taught District No. 61 in 1943-44, District No. 41 in 1944-45 and District No. 61 in 1945-46.
Mildred married Carl E. Johnson on September 8, 1946. To this marriage two children were born, Ronald Edwin and Diana Lynn. They lived on a farm in Kirk Community, formerly a post office and store in eastern Banner County. In 1950, they moved to a farm in southwestern Banner County, which they later purchased. Ron and Paula reside there today.
Survivors include son, Ronald (Paula) Johnson of Bushnell; daughter, Diana (Tom) Holsinger of Avon, Minnesota; granddaughters, Jill Johnson of Little Fork, Minnesota and Jody (Brian) Goldie of Belle Plaine, Minnesota; and grandsons, Thorin and Rowan Goldie of Belle Plaine, Minnesota.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Johnson; parents, Ed and Vida Soule; and brothers, Roy Soule and Clarence Soule.
