Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The sun was hanging high in the sky as strong winds blew through the grass of the Four Winds Golf Course Saturday, June 27 for the Kimball TeamMates Golf Tournament.
The tournament held a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. as 11 teams kicked off the first round of play and participated in the start of the 10th year of the TeamMates.
Though the day was perfect for walking the greens and basking in the open air, the tournmanet did not just offer local residents who participated to take time to enjoy the game that they love, but it also gave them an opportunity to give back to the TeamMates program, which works hard to help out Kimball students and guide them in the right direction so that they can be successful in their future endeavors with all proceeds from the event going towards paying for activities and scholarships for local students.
The competition was fierce on the green, but at the end of the day the team of Todd O'Hare, Jake Daum, Kendall Ferguson and Landon Smith walked away the victors. In second place was Tom O'Brien, Robert O'Brien, Steve Warner, and Corey Strodleman. Rounding out the top three were Darrin Lonsdale, Ty Garrett, Gene Golding and Lance Terrill.
Carolyn Montgomery, TeamMates member, was astonished at the level of support that the event was given by the community, offering her gratitude to all who helped make it a success.
"We appreciate the donations from Main Street Market, Bonnie Risk, Adrian Fuss, Joann Mueller, and Ryan Behrend. We'd like to thank Chad Wise for his help at 4 Winds Golf Course. Thank you to everyone who participated," Montgomery said.
The program is still looking for mentors for the upcoming school year. Anyone interested in either becoming a mentor or finding out more information about the Kimball TeamMates can do so by calling Montgomery at 235-2017 or reaching her at the high school at 235-4861.
