Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Western Trails Conference Girls Golf Tournament will take place at Bridgeport today (Thursday) with a 9 a.m. start time. Kimball’s Jaycie Walker and Kalli Bush will be in the field vying for top ten medal finishes along with a spot in the Best in the West Tournament being held at the Gering course on Oct. 1.
Jaycie Walker’s top ten medal streak came to an end this week when she finished 1 stroke out of l0th place at Ogallala on this past Monday. Coach Nora Robinson said, “It was a nasty day at Ogallala with wind and rain but it wasn’t all bad. Our girls got to see the course they will play at district and now the pressure is off of Jaycie and she can just go down there and play more relaxed.” Miss Walker shot 119, her high for the year, and Kalli Bush shot 126.
Prior to the Ogallala Tournament, Walker had a very good day at the Gering Invite. Playing in the Division One group with all of the big schools, Jaycie shot 99 to bring home the 8th place medal and what a back nine she had. After shooting 56 on the front nine she roared back with a 43 on the back nine. Kalli Bush shot 125 at the Gering tournament. The district and state qualifying tournament will be held Oct. 6 or 7 at Ogallala.
