Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
A tough week for the Kimball High Volleyball Team as they went up against three Class B schools and suffered three losses to the larger programs that leaves them now with a win-loss record of 7-8.
In dual competition at Alliance they fell in straight sets 22-25 19-25 22-19. In triangular play at Sidney they lost to the host school 22-25 20-25 and fell to Gering 13-25 19-25.
Coach Vicki Mitchell said, "Again it was a rough week for us. In all of the games we had moments of great play but had big lapses on serve receive. We also had individuals miss their assignments which left holes on the floor. These are fixable mistakes and we plan on working hard to fix them this week. The girls showed some great unity and community spirit by running in the Farmer's Day Fun Run this past Saturday. The top three volleyball player finishers were Jannel Fiehtner, Madison Biesecker, and Hannah Biesecker."
In the Alliance match, Madie Snyder had 8 points, with 3 ace serves, 10 kills, and 12 digs. Danika Daum had 8 points, 8 kills, 8 assists, 6 blocks, and 6 digs. Madison Biesecker had 6 points, 6 kills, 12 assists, and 12 digs. Ali Hunsaker led in digs with 17 with Raelynn Hinton charted with 14.
In the match with Sidney Madison Biesecker was high in service points with 8, had 8 assists, 6 kills, and 2 blocks. Coach Mitchell said the digs were not up to date on the games at Sidney. In the Gering match Biesecker again led in points with 7, had 3 kills, 5 assists, and 2 blocks. Daum with 5 and Hinton with 4 led in the block department.
A tough week again this week as the Lady Longhorns host Burns, the winner of the Potter Dix Tournament, this evening (Thursday) for a full slate of matches beginning at 5 p.m. On Tuesday (Oct. 7) they are at Potter Dix for a triangular that also involves Bayard with play beginning at 5 p.m.
