Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Banner County dropped a close 48-38 game at Arthur County last Friday.
Coach Heath Johnson said the game was even closer than the final score indicated.
"The game as a good one...while the loss margin was ten, it was about two the entire game," he said. "We went up 18 right away, then made some mistakes that allowed them back into the game. The second half was a back and forth situation. We had a fumble, a holding in the end zone (automatic safety), and some blown coverages that cost us the game. We had so many opportunities you really can't pin one mistake on the loss.
"Arthur is a good football team, they are well-coached and they are disciplined. At the end of the day I felt very proud of the effort our boys put into the game. We just fell short."
The Wildcats fell to 1-5 overall with the defeat and 0-3 in district play.
Banner County wraps up the home portion of its schedule Friday with a 1 p.m. contest against Cody-Kilgore. The Cowboys come to Harrisburg with a 2-4 record.
