Walker closes out golf season with state tourney appearance

Kimball High senior Jaycie Walker closed out her high school golf career at the Nebraska state Class C state Tournament held at the Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus this past Monday-Tuesday and although she didn’t finish in the top 15 medal group, she can feel proud of her accomplishments this year.

Jaycie had to battle not only the field of 92 ladies, but also some cold and windy weather, especially on Monday. After a rainstorm on Sunday, the course was wet on Monday along with cool temps and strong wind. She had a round of 60-52=112 on Monday and then on Tuesday she came back with a final round of 56-61=117, once again battling strong winds but at least the sun did shine the final day. Her first day round had her sitting 55th in the field and at the time of this writing, her Tuesday score had not been compiled as to her final standing. Her state qualifying was a tribute to an outstanding senior season.
