Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Congressman Adrian Smith is the keynote speaker for this year’s Kimball High School Veterans Day program.
“We’re extremely honored that Congressman Smith has accepted our invitation to speak to our area veterans during this very busy election time,” said Jeri Ferguson, KHS civics instructor. “Congressman Smith has earned praise for his leadership, hard work and dedication to Nebraska, and we’re excited to have him help us honor those who’ve served our country.”
This year’s program will be Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Harry McNees Auditorium. All Kimball-area veterans are invited to attend.
Smith, a Gering native, is the U.S. Representative for Nebraska’s 3rd congressional district, serving since 2007. Prior to that he spent eight years serving in the state legislature.
According to Ferguson, the civics students have mailed out letters to area veterans inviting them to attend. However, she asks that if any veteran did not receive a letter, please plan to attend. Ferguson added that this program is open to the whole community.
The Kimball School District is providing a complimentary dinner for all veterans and their spouses. The civics students will also help provide rides for any veteran who may need one. To make any of these arrangements, please call the high school at 308-235-4861.
