Harry Burback

Harry Burback, 88, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Alan Foutz officiating. Burial was held in the Kimball Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Kimball Presbyterian Church or the family's choice. The services for Harry have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Harry Burback was born in Broadwater on Jan. 5, 1926, the son of Henry and Anna (Honstein) Burback. He moved with his family to Kimball, he attended the Kimball Public Schools and graduated from the Kimball County High School in 1944. Harry was married to Beulah Smith on Sept. 1, 1946, in Kimball. He worked for area farmers and also the Ford garage, where he learned the auto body repair trade. In 1953 he opened Plains Body Shop and also farmed in the area. He still had an active interest in both at the time of his death. He started farming at the age of 13 when his father unexpectedly died. In 2003 he received the Outstanding Farmer and Rancher award in Kimball County. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, restoring old farm equipment and collecting vintage cars. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his daughters Carol Gibb, Sandy (Dan) Magninie and Mary (Mike) Moehr all of Kimball; grandchildren, Zeb Gibb, Zack (Amanda) Gibb, Nathan (Dee) Magninie, Jacob (Joyce) Magninie, Matthew Moehr and Jessica (Matt) Jensen; and great-grandchildren Tyler and Sheridan Magninie and Isaac and Preston Gibb and Seth Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; six sisters, Ann Strasheim, Lydia Talhelm, Elizabeth Strasheim, Esther Novotny, Helen Evertson and Irene Young; five brothers Johnny, Henry, Conrad, Reuben and Richard and son-in-law Clyde Gibb.
