Lady Wildcats defeat Minatare, 40-27

The Banner County girls basketball team split a pair of games last week, winning against Minatare on Thursday and dropping a game against Bayard. The Lady Wildcats are now 1-3 on the season.

The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to play Leyton at home on Friday and at Creek Valley on Saturday.

Banner 40, Minatare 27

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to the early lead and rolled to a 40-27 win on Thursday against Minatare.

Banner led 8-0 after the first quarter and held a 14-11 lead at halftime. The Lady Wildcats outscored Minatare 26-16 in the second half.

Freshman MaKenna Dahlgrin led the Lady Wildcats with a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down 18 rebounds. Senior Ashlynne Hanan also scored 13 points for Banner.

The Lady Wildcats (1-3) dropped Saturday’s contest to Bayard, falling 55-15.

Bayard jumped out to a 13-4 first quarter lead and held a 30-7 advantage at halftime.

Hanan led the team with five points, six rebounds and five steals.
