Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Four Kimball High School students, Soroya Estrada and her sister Estrella Estrada, Jessica Williams and Alecia Lee, did not want to leave school on the first day of winter break in December. They asked Mrs. Pat Sulu and the Spanish Club if they could create a mural or something to improve and brighten Kimball. That Saturday after school was out, they came back to school and worked all day to create a "door" that reflected the 1918 beauty of the Wheat Growers Hotel. They wrote a note to the owners of the Wheat Growers Hotel, explaining that it was a Christmas gift they wanted to give to the Kimball community and asked permission to put up the art. Larissa Binod of Keep Kimball Beautiful was the go-between (with Mr. and Mrs. Abramson and the girls) to get permission to put up the art. Spud Rowley put up the door at the historic site. The next project is to paint the boarded windows on the second floor of the Wheat Growers Hotel to reflect the 1918 windows. They hope the rest of the community will get excited about improving our beautiful town.
