Roy Edward "Ed" Soule

Roy Edward "Ed" Soule, 67, of Gering and formerly of Bushnell, died at his home in Gering on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015.

Roy Edward Soule was born on Jan. 22, 1948, the oldest of four children born to Roy and Helen (Gibbs) Soule. He graduated from the Bushnell High School in 1966. He attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie for a little over a year before transferring to Votech where he received his degree in diesel mechanics.

Ed was married to Kay Smith on Dec. 19, 1970, and to this union Bobbi Jean, Becky Rae and Andrew Dean were born. He loved farming, especially working cattle and calving season, although he was no longer farming, he was a true farmer at heart. Ed also enjoyed his work as a diesel mechanic. His hobbies included his Lionel Train Sets, Leather Working and John Deere Tractors. He would spend his days watching old western shows, his favorite being Gunsmoke. He spent many hours with his faithful companion Chester.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Soule; wife, Kay Soule; daughters, Bobbi (Kevin) Armstrong of Scottsbluff, and Becky (Brad) Freeman of Milford; son, Andy Soule of Gering; grandchildren, Joey, Machaela, Garrett and Aydenn Freeman, Brodie Armstrong and Drew Soule; sisters, Judy (Steve) Land of Gering, and Jo (Bob) Royle of Pleasanton; brother, Mike (Sonya) Soule of Bear River, Wyo .; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.

Friends were able to stop at the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 1-5 p.m. to sign the register book and leave condolences for the family.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Ronald Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
