Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball Area Foundation is an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation. Both foundations were created to assist communities with needs in the areas of economic development and financial assistance among other things.
The Kimball Area Foundation was established several years ago and has been slowly growing the investment funds in order to use the interest from the funds for Kimball area community projects. The KAF board encourages non-profit organizations with special projects to apply for some funds. Organizations eligible to receive grants are 501(c)(3) organizations, government entities and other charitable groups.
There are four areas of grants to apply for. The first is economic development efforts, which includes community promotion, beautification, entrepreneurship, job training and more. The second is donor education efforts, which includes workshops and seminars for donors and financial planners, and tax saving strategies and planned giving strategies. The third area is leadership skill development, which includes community leadership, structure and business, classes in teamwork, board member training, etc., and support for hometown entrepreneurship. The fourth area is youth engagement and is for strategies and programs to attract young families and youth to the area through mentorship, youth committees, entrepreneurial education for students, programs that create expression for youth, youth health programs and much more.
If you have some great ideas and a plan to implement them, the board wishes to encourage you to apply. You may get more information and pick a form up at the Kimball Public Library or print it from the website http://www.kimballareafoundation.com. The Kimball Area Foundation board meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Kimball Public Library.
