Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball/Banner Farm Bureau has announced the winners of its agricultural scholarship to five members of the class of 2015. Three students have been selected from Kimball High School and two from Banner County High School. The scholarship is awarded to students who are pursuing advanced study from an accredited college, university or trade school with an interest in agriculture or are from a rural background. They may have a major goal in working with agriculture or in a program to benefit a rural community.
Students selected from Kimball are Justin Mohr, Michael Ferguson and Tyler Shaw. Mohr, son of Gene, the late Tammy Mohr and Chari Mohr, will major in elementary education and attend Chadron State College. Attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Ferguson will major in agronomy and broadcasting. He is the son of Kerry and Jeri Ferguson. Shaw plans to enroll in Casper Community College and study animal science. His parents are Matt and Dr. Mimi Shaw.
Scholarship winners from Banner County are Christina Grubbs, the daughter of Curtis and Victoria Grubbs, and Ashlynne Hanan, the daughter of Amy Houck. Christina will attend Laramie County Community College and major in animal science. Ashlynne will enroll in Rocky Mountain College to study animal science and equine science.
Students selected have a variety of interests and goals and have exceptional recommendations from both their respective schools and the community. Scholarship monies of $300 will be given to the students following the successful completion of the first semester and enrollment in the second semester of their school.
