Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The 5K run to raise money for the library carpet fund was held on July 4 at 7 a.m. and 44 contestants showed their athletic abilities and their heart. They ranged in age from 5 to 82.
There were runners and walkers and fathers pushing strollers and youth with their dogs, moms with their sons and daughters. And the Rodriguez family had more than 10 people participate.
Colby Lukassen was the fastest man with a time of 20:01 minutes (on our clocks). Kelleigh Huff was the fastest woman with a time of 20:50. Kaden Adrian was the fastest teen with 20:39 and Nathaniel Mars came in with 24:55. The fastest youth was Sage Huff. All were good sports and had a fun time. Several suggested that we do this event again. And we might.
The Plains Historical Museum board helped by providing the tables and coffee. Others provided treats and helped with registration and timing. Main Street Market provided the water. No successful event happens without volunteers and enthusiastic participants. Thanks for helping the library.
