Highlighting new school personnel at Kimball High School

Lindsey Maas

School at: Kimball High School and Mary Lynch Elementary School nurse.

Year in profession: Second year of nursing.

Hometown: Kimball.

Family: Luke Maas, husband.

Why did you get into nursing? Growing up, I got to see the rewards of nursing through my aunts. I could see how much their patients meant to them and how much they meant to their patients, and I wanted that for myself as well.

What are you looking forward to most this year? I'm really looking forward to getting to know all the kids, spending time with the teachers who taught me in school, and being close to our families again.

What do you feel will be most challenging? Most rewarding? The most challenging thing will be learning all the new paperwork requirements and school protocols. The most rewarding thing will be seeing how much the kids learn throughout the school year.

Will you be involved in any additional activities? In the future I would love to be involved. I played golf and was a cheerleader, and would love to help with those activities.

Luke Maas

School teaches at: Kimball High School.

Subject teaching: High school science.

Hometown: Potter.

Family: Lindsey Maas, wife.

Why did you get into teaching? Working with kids and watching them conquer the difficult concepts that come with science is very rewarding and it's a feeling only teaching can give a person.

What are you looking forward to most this year? Developing my classes to a level that will not only challenge my students, but prepare them to succeed in life.

What do you feel will be most challenging? Most rewarding? Most challenging will be overcoming the boundaries that students inherently buildup when faced with a challenge. The most rewarding will be when those same students surpass their own expectations and reach a higher level of confidence.

Will you be involved in any additional activities? None, at the moment. I'm going to focus on teaching but I will most definitely be coaching in the future.

Additional comments: Lindsey and myself are both happy to be back and are looking forward to working with the great staff and students at KPS. Go Longhorns!!

Jacquie Prather

Hometown: Anchorage, Alaska.

Family: Justin, husband; Alandalynn and Kaleb, children.

Why did you get into teaching? I enjoy helping kids and seeing them reach goals.

What are you looking forward to most this year? I am looking forward to seeing all the kids, and learning what they kids future goals are.

What do you feel will be most challenging? Most rewarding? The most challenging is being the new person in school. The most rewarding would have to be the kids getting their goals and moving on.

Will you be involved in any additional activities? I will try to put myself in what ever area they would like me in this first year.

Additional comments: I just want to thank the Kimball High School District for giving me a chance as the study hall paraprofessional, and I am looking forward to the school year.
