Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
A Ferguson loaded team emerged champions of the 24th annual Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Classic held this past Saturday at the Four Winds Golf Course. The team of Charles, Kendall and Michael Ferguson along with Scott Kelsey, shot a round of 56, 16 under par, to win first place in the 23 team field of golfers who enjoyed the day despite about an hour weather delay when an electric storm rolled through the area. When the horn sounded, golfers left the course and took shelter, returning to play at 4:10 when the sun broke through the clouds,
All golfers were treated to lunch prior to the l2-noon tee off with a shotgun start. The second place team consisted of Connie Rupp, Doug Rupp, David Rupp, and John Aufdengartan shooting 58, and the third place team was made up of Wade Brashear, Bill Brashear, Craig Knotts, and Brendan Walker with a round of 61.
Along with the team prizes, there were flag prizes on every hole and lots of door prizes and raffle prizes handed out. Among the top prizes awarded was an I-pad mini-two donated by Bonnie Risk and the lucky lady whose name was drawn was Nancy Garrett. Amanda Lusche won the raffle for a 55 inch Samsung curved TV donated by Ken and Cynthia Hunter. Pat O'Brien won a Nike VRS driver donated by Kevin and Jennifer Thomas. All of the above winners are Kimball residents. Nolan Woodworth of Pine Bluffs was the winner of the Trail Boss grill donated by Hometown Hardware.
The award ceremonies were held back at the Wind Break Restaurant after completion of play and after all goflers enjoyed a buffet feast. Kimball Hospital Foundation Director, Kerry Ferguson termed the event "very successful and enjoyed by all." Proceeds from the event will go towards the purchase of a new surgical table to be used at Kimball Health Services.
There were no hole-in-one winners and no one made the difficult putt to take home the money in the putting contest. Each player also received a 25 pack golf cart cooler.
