Arlene Koester, 76, of Kimball, died at her home in Kimball on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 1-6 p.m. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view Arlene's tribute wall and share condolences and stories with the family. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice. The services for Arlene have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Arlene Koester was born in Downs, Kan., on Feb. 3, 1939, the daughter of Lee and Gladys (Smith) Boyd. She was raised and attended school in Chase, Kan., and graduated from the Chase High School in 1957. She moved to Kimball in 1957 and met and was later married to Jack Goodman in November of 1959.
They lived in Colorado for a short time before moving back to Kimball. Arlene had a ceramic shop in Kimball, worked at Vince's Lounge for many years and then went to work for the State of Nebraska and retired after 14 years of service. Jack preceded her in death in 1987. Arlene was married to Leo Koester in Kimball in 1990. She enjoyed ceramics, quilting and knitting and doing embroidery work. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed having them all home during Christmas.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Koester of Kimball; daughters, Sherri Goodman of Ft. Collins, Colo., Jackie (Dan) Hoppes of Kimball, and Darla (Dave) Klinkhammer of Kimball; step-sons, Rod (Lori) Koester of Gillette, Wyo., and Steve Koester of Clarksville, Tenn; step-daughter, Penny (Tony) Day of Thermopolis, Wyo .; sister, Cheryl (Don) Trofholz of Cheyenne, Wyo .; brother, Merl Boyd of Cheyenne, Wyo .; 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren with two on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband.
