Lady Coyotes sweep Minatare, Caliche

In addition to Thursday’s play at Mitchell, the Potter-Dix volleyball team also swept Minatare and Caliche (Colo.) in play last week.

The Lady Coyotes rolled to a 3-0 win at Minatare last Tuesday. They won 25-9, 25-5 and 25-5 to take the match easily in three games.

Potter-Dix got a plethora of points from its serving in the win. Regyn Hicks led the team with 10 aces, followed by Audrey Juelfs with seven and Anna McLaughlin with six. Lanie Thies added three aces, while Jenna Thies had one.

Alexus Rozelle led the team with six kills, while Dawson Sharman and Juelfs added four each.

Defensively, Juelfs and Lanie Thies tied for the team lead with nine digs, while Hicks added seven. Lanie Thies also led the team with 20 assists.

The Lady Coyotes wrapped up the week with a 3-0 home victory against Caliche. The Lady Coyotes upped their season mark to 4-1, while Caliche slipped to 2-4.

Juelfs and Hicks were a strong presence at the net as they pounded home nine and eight kills, respectively. Sharman (6) and McLaughlin (5) were also important contributors to the team total of 32 kills.

On the service line, Lanie Thies had 12 attempts without an error, while Alexus Rozelle and Juelfs each had a pair of aces. Thies contributed with 31 set assists.

Defensively, Savannah Shaw led up front with a team-high four blocks, while McLaughlin and Rozelle each had three. Hicks and Juelfs had 15 digs apiece while Sharman added 13.
