Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball volleyball team posted a 5-1 record last week, including a win at the Gordon-Rushville tournament last weekend.
The Lady Longhorns opened the week Tuesday at Garden County, where they split a pair of matches. The Lady Longhorns beat out Garden County with a score of 2-0. Kimball won 25-10 and 25-15. Kimball then took on Bridgeport for the second time of the young season, and Bridgeport avenged its season-opening loss to Kimball with a 25-20 and 25-23 win.

On Saturday, the Lady Longhorns traveled to Gordon and competed in the Gordon-Rushville tournament, where they excelled against both the teams they played. They beat the Hemingford Lady Bobcats 2-0, with the scores being 25-20 in the first set and 25-18 in the second.

Danika Daum led the way with 11 service points, while Madison Biesecker and Ali Hunsaker added eight each.
Kimball improved to 6-1 on the season after last week.
"It's going to be a good season. I think we're doing very well," said Kimball coach Jeri Ferguson. "We've played some really good teams and been in some pretty hostile environments but we've kept our cool and our players are only getting stronger.
"A few of the games we've been down, but the girls never panic, and we come up and win. We never let the other teams get us down mentally. We just need to continue to stay positive and keep making progress, which I'm sure we will. Everything ultimately rests on the girls' shoulders."
