Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Danika Daum, Kimball High senior, has given verbal commitment to play volleyball at WNCC next year and will complete her commitment at a formal signing in late November. At this time Daum has no plans to play basketball as well for the Lady Cougars, but plans to focus strictly on volleyball.
"I want to focus on volleyball only in order to reach the goals I have set for myself and to get to where I want to go with my volleyball," Daum said. Danika is looking to take her game to the Division One level but at this time she is joining up with one of the top junior college programs in the nation, and one that battles for national titles on an annual basis.
At Kimball High, Danika has been a four year starter in both volleyball and basketball, earning all conference and all region honors in both sports and this past year was listed in the top 10 for Female All Region Athletic honors in the Scottsbluff Star Herald. A multiple sport standout, she also was a point scorer for the Kimball High track and field team competing in the weight throws.
At 6 feet tall, she has the size along with her athletic abilities to stand out at the college level as well, recruited as a setter for the Cougars. In the meantime she is helping her Lady Longhorn team compile a winning season that hopefully can end with a trip to the state tournament along with conference and region honors.
