She attended Gering public schools and graduated from Gering High School in 1946 with office practice and math majors. She married James H. "Jim" Thompson of Harrisburg in Kimball County on Feb. 1, 1946. She performed her duties well, as a farm wife, until the untimely demise of her husband on Sept. 23, 1967. She was active in her church, Calvary Memorial Church, as a Sunday School teacher for 12 years, also organized nursery schedules and as an active nursery attendant.
While not working, she freely gave of her time helping others. She would assist the elderly, getting folks to and from doctors' appointments, shopping, etc. She was also a mentor to other single mothers and anyone in need, not expecting any remuneration. She also took pride in her home by taking meticulous care of the yard and gardening. Daily walks were part of her regimen, as well as, scrap booking and visiting with friends and family
