Kimball cross country shows well at conference meets

The Kimball cross country teams performed well in a pair of conference meets last week.

The Kimball boys finished third in the SPVA conference meet and took fourth at the Western Trails conference meet. The Lady Longhorns finished fourth in the SPVA meet and took second in the WTC meet.

At the SPVA meet, Brandon Barker was third overall to lead Kimball in 18:35.

Zachary Wagner came in eighth with a time of 19:15, Kaden Adrien finished 19th with a time of 20:50, and Joel Evertson finished 21st with a time of 20:55.

Thomas Lenzen came in 29th with a time of 21:29 for Kimball, while Nicholas Thomas-Lewis came in 34th with a time of 22:15. Garrett Pedersen finished 37th with a time of 22:20, Devon Gardner came in 58th with a time of 24:19 and Grant Golding finished 61st with a time of 26:29.

Indy Smith of Chase County won the individual title in 18:08, followed by Jack Linders of Bridgeport in 18:15.

Bridgeport won the boys team title with 23 points, followed by Chase County with 27 points.

Kailey Dickerson led the Kimball girls at the SPVA meet with a 13th place finish. She finished the meet in 25:16.

Alex Reader came in 14th with a time of 25:35, followed by Arica McCloud in 23rd place with a time of 28:03.

Raylyn Soper finished 25th with a time of 28:24, Monica Wasielewski came in 30th with a time of 30:08, and Patricia Casimiro finished 34th with a time of 33:29.

Bridgeport won the girls SPVA meet, followed by Chase County in second place.

Emily Kemling of Perkins County won the individual conference crown with a time of 21:09.99.

The next day at the WTC meet, Barker finished seventh in 18:09 to lead the Longhorns on the day.

Wagner finished 11th with a time of 18:52, followed by Adrien in 18th place with a time of 20:11.

Evertson finished 21st with a time of 20:35, Lenzen came in 24th with a time of 20:51, Thomas-Lewis finished 32nd with a time of 21:24, and Pedersen came in 44th with a time of 22:52.

Gardner finished 49th for the Horns with a time of 23:53, followed by Sebastian Portillo in 53rd in 25:47 and Golding in 56th with a time of 25:54.

Mitchell won the boys team race with 31 points, followed by Bridgeport, Gordon-Rushville, Kimball and Hemingford.

Edward Grentz of Mitchell won the individual title in 17:11, followed 11 seconds later by teammate Chase Watson in second place.

Dickerson led the Lady Longhorns at the WTC meet with a 10th place finish in 24:14.

Reader came in 13th with a time of 24:32, followed by McCloud in 18th with a time of 26:57.

Kennedy Lewis came in 21st with a time of 28:05, followed by Soper in 22nd with a time of 29:17, Wasielewski in 23rd with a time of 29:38, and Casimiro in 26th with a time of 39:00.
