Ferdinand Karl Schneider, 82, of Gering, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyo. At his request, cremation has taken place. A graveside inurnment was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, at Pine Bluffs Cemetery in Pine Bluffs, Wyo., with Pastor Norman Reed officiating. Military honors by United State Army National Guard. Karl was born on March 1, 1933 at Sterling, Colo. to Fred and Katherine (Mauer) Schneider. He attended Sterling Schools until 8th grade and then went on to receive the rest of his education by experience. He entered into the United States Army at Williston, N.D., in 1951 and honorably served our country until his honorable discharge at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in 1954.
Karl worked as a truck driver in the oil field in Kimball for many years. He enjoyed fishing and family.
Karl is survived by his children, Tammy (Mike) Bond of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., and Shelton Schneider of Seattle, Wash .; siblings, Juanita (Mike) Steinbeck of Denver, Colo., Margret Montaya of Aurora, Colo., and George Hartman of Sidney; grandchildren, Julie Bond, Jessica Bond, Eric Bond, and Angelia Schneider; great-grandson Sean Bond; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul and Nicholas Hartman; sister, Marcella Hartman; and sister-in-law, Donna Hartman.
