As we close out the Fall Sports Seasons, the junior high teams are already starting the winter season. The Kimball Junior High Wrestling Team is in action this Saturday at Harrisburg in the Banner County Tournament. Klent Schnell, former Kimball High standout wrestler is once again heading up the Kimball Junior High program and will be assisted this year by Wade Brashear, the Kimball High head coach. Bob Culek, another Kimball High grad who excelled for the Longhorns on the mats, will assist coach Brashear with the high school team this year.
Kimball will be hosting their own tournament this coming Tuesday with wrestling to begin at 12 noon.

Junior High girls basketball also getting underway with coaches Michele Daum and Danielle Reader back to handle the program. Coach Daum said they have 14 girls out and will operate with a format of A and B teams, regardless of grade. The Kimball girls open November 10 hosting Pine Bluffs at 3 p.m.

I gotta brag this week on Kendall Ferguson, yet another former Kimball High grad who excelled in all sports. Kendall is in his final year at Hastings College and after a couple of seasons of football for Hastings, and after some injuries that took a toll, he gave up the gridiron sport and the basketball coaches at Hastings promptly got ahold of him and he switched sports and went indoors.
After a year of mostly reserve ball, this year the big guy, now 6’6” and 225 pounds, is a starter on the Hastings varsity. In their opening game this past Friday, he scored 7 points going 3 for 3 including making his lone trey shot, and had 7 rebounds to help Hastings to a 108-72 win over Yellow Stone Christian out of Billings, Montana. In his senior year he is playing a forward spot. If you happen to be down York, Nebraska way this weekend, Kendall and team will be playing both Friday and Saturday in 5 p.m. games, York time.

I am anxiously awaiting word on how Mike Daum is faring at South Daktoa State University where he is ready to embark on his collegiate career after red-shirting his freshman year. Will keep you posted.
