Abraham Lincoln visits Kimball

The person and character of the greatest U. S. President came alive with a presentation by John Voehl, a lifetime member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters, who has been presenting as Abraham Lincoln for several years. Voehl approached Kimball High School Principal Eugene Hanks about presenting a 150th anniversary presentation of Lincoln and his Civil War presidency. On Nov. 10 Mary Lynch Elementary students in grades 3 – 8 attended an assembly at the Harry E. McNees Auditorium where Voehl spoke of Lincoln's education, childhood, second election during the Civil War, and other facts about his presidency before ending the assembly with a question and answer session. The assembly for the high school students was held directly thereafter and focused on the Gettysburg Address. Since 1996, a quarter million people of all ages have been enriched by a personal encounter with the Great Emancipator and Civil War Commander in Chief with appearances in 38 states totaling over 1,000 presentations, according to Voehl's website.
