Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball junior varsity and freshman basketball teams got their seasons underway two weeks ago with the JV teams playing Perkins County and Morrill and the boys freshman team going up against Sidney.
In freshman play, the Sidney boys won over Kimball 43-30. Izaac Reuter led Kimball with 10 points, Brady Kilgore had 6, Andrew McCloud 5, Corey Travis 3, Kole Bush 3, and Ryan Soper 3.
In JV play the Kimball boys lost to Perkins County 55-26 with Reuter again high with 12 including 2 treys, Brandon Barker had 4, Colton Mielke 3 with a trey, Kole Bush 3 with a trey, and Preston Booty 2.
In a two quarter game with Morrill, Kimball won 22-17 led by Reuter with 6, Booty 5, Bush 4, Grant Golding 3, Mielke 2, and Kilgore 2.
The Kimball JV girls lost at Grant 22-21 and did not play very well according to coach Tiffany Johnson. Hannah Biesecker was high with 12 points, Sheridan Magninie had 3, Shauntae Daily 2, Lacy Klinkhammer 2, and Justine Heeg 2.
Kimball came back with a good effort Saturday to win over Morrill 55-40. Hannah Biesecker was 9/13 at the foul line and tallied 21 points to take game scoring honors. Alexis Lulf also had an outstanding game with 12 points going 4/4 at the line and hitting a pair of 3 pointers. Daily had 8, Madison Wynne 4, Klinkhammer 4, Heeg 4, and Magninie 2.
The freshmen games with Bridgeport were cancelled last week because of conflicts in scheduling by Bridgeport. JV games with Hershey and Bayard were set for last weekend, weather permitting.
In JV play this week, the Kimball girls lost at Hershey 49-29 but won at Bayard 64-32. At Hershey Hannah Biesecker had 8 points, all from the foul line. Alexis Lulf had 6 with 1 trey, Justine Heeg 3 with her trey, Kennedy Lewis 5 with a trey, Hailey Paxton 3, Shauntae Daily and Kaylin Nelson 2 each.
At Bayard Kate Reader exploded for 20 points in 2 quarters of play. Heeg had 10, Biesecker 8, Lulf 7, Nelson 6, Lacey Klinkhammer 4, Sheridan Magninie 4, Lila Moore 2, and Lewis 2.
In JV boy play Kimball fell to Hershey 62-31 and won over Bayard 51-48 At Hershey Brandon Barker had 12 points, Brady Kilgore 6, Izaak Reuter 5, Kole Bush 4, Coery Travis 2 and Colton Mielke 2. At Bayard Mielke was high with 15 with 2 treys, Reuter had 10, Barker 8 with a trey, Andrew McCloud 7, bush 6, Travis 3, and Kilgore 2.
