Nathan Clay Grossnicklaus, 43, of Merryville, La went home to be with Jesus December 24, 2015. Nate was born in York, NE on August 21, 1972 to Gene and Mabel "Snookie" Grossnicklaus. He spent most of his growing up years in Kimball, NE where he excelled in sports, music, academics and took on many leadership roles. Nate had two sons who meant the world to him. He spent many years teaching them all he loved and enjoyed coaching their little league teams. Nate was also a proud grandfather of one grandson. In the last years of his life Nate enjoyed playing on numerous pool leagues. Nate was unfailingly kind and generous, he loved to laugh, loved drinking a beer with friends and excelled in sarcasm.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering for Nate in conjunction with a benefit pool tournament on January 9, 2016 in Leesville, La at Club Zydeco starting at 12pm. Part of the proceeds will be donated in memory of Nate to the Merryville youth baseball program.
Nate is survived by his sons Stephan (Skylar) Grossnicklaus and Sean Grossnicklaus both of Lafayette, LA. One grandson, Slater. Father Gene Grossnicklaus of Powers Lake, ND. Brother Wade (Nancy) Grossnicklaus of Hermosa, SD. Sister Thea (Mark) Lee of Powers Lake, ND. And many nieces and nephews.
Nate is preceded in death by his mother Mabel "Snookie" Grossnicklaus, and grandparents Clay and Irene Brumbaugh and Raymond and Leona Grossnicklaus.
