Vira "Vi" K. Colson

Vira "Vi" K. Colson, 76, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on Friday, March 4, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Pine Bluffs Baptist Church with Pastor Dan DeBruyn officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. The family will be present from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. to receive friends. Memorials may be given to the Pine Bluffs Baptist Church Building Fund. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view Vi's Tribute Wall and leave messages of condolence for the family. The services for Vi have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Vira Kay Colson was born in Hayes Center, Nebraska on April 9, 1939, the daughter of Glen and Wretha (Wilson) Scott. She was raised and attended school in Hayes Center and graduated from the Hayes Center High School in 1956. Vi was married to James Edward Colson in Sidney, Nebraska on May 24, 1957. The family lived in Sterling and then Ft. Morgan and Vi worked as a nurses aid. They moved to Worland, Wyoming and then to Kimball in 1963. She worked for Kimball Health Services for several years. Vi also worked for the Kimball Pharmacy from 1969-1984. She also worked several other jobs in Kimball. She retired in 2004. She enjoyed baking and was known for her cookies and cinnamon rolls, this was a tradition that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She also loved to crochet. She had a passion for studying the bible and enjoyed teaching Sunday school to the high school age children. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband.

Survivors include her husband James Colson of Kimball, NE; son Jody (Terry) Colson of Chuuk, Micronesia; daughter Jackie (Stephen) Levin of Arvada, CO; sister Glora Clark of McCook, NE; grandchildren Bethany (Brandon) Tileston, Allyson (Jonathan) Klein, Andrea Colson, Alisha Colson and Matthew Colson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Roland, Homer and Norman Scott; sisters Viola Trout and Glendola Evans.
