Robert D. Fornstrom, 69, of Pine Bluffs, died at his home in Pine Bluffs, on Friday, March 25, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Dan DeBruyn officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view Bob's Tribute Wall and leave condolences and messages of sympathy for the family. Memorials have been established to a Charity of the Donor's Choice or the American Diabetes Association. The services for Bob have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Robert Douglas Fornstrom was born March 21, 1947 in Kimball, Nebraska to John R. and Charlotte (Lahners) Fornstrom. He graduated from Pine Bluffs High School in 1965 and the University of Wyoming in 1969. He married Jana Hill in Pine Bluffs on June 15, 1967 and they had two sons. They later divorced. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972 and was stationed at Ft. Meyer, Virginia, as part of the President's Honor Guard. He returned to Pine Bluffs and pursued his love for farming. He was the happiest when he worked on the farm. He was a successful and innovative farmer by using crop diversification. He loved watching high school basketball while his kids or grandkids played. He delighted in taking vacations with his companion, Pattie, and his family. Bob enjoyed many day trips with Pattie and friends to local points of interest.
He is survived by his companion, Pattie Klinginsmith, sons, Mark (Susie) and Justin (Kara), brothers, Wayne (Dorothy) and Richard, and grandchildren, Taylor, Christopher, Andrew, Ryan, Cade and Keefer. He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Riley.
