Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The big news this week is Kimball winning the Bayard Golf Tournament, and winning it handily by 12 strokes over runner-up Bridgeport. The Horns shot 334 and had 3 players in the top ten medal group including Jordan Greenwood in the number one spot to take medalist honors with his round of 37-35=72.
Jordan was the lone team member with high school experience with three freshmen playing their first high school tournament along with senior Tyler Magninie, also his first tournament ever. We can expect more good things from this group all season and remember coach Chad Wise’s pre-season quote .... “We are here to win.”

The sports schedule this week is busy for the golfers. They went to Mitchell this past Tuesday, are at Bridgeport today (Thursday), go to Chase County Saturday, and to Morrill this coming Tuesday (Apri19).
The Kimball High Track Team had a layoff this past week but are ready to get back in action as they host the Western Trails Conference meet scheduled for this Saturday, (weather permitting) with a start time of 9:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity for you track fans to see some of the state’s top tracksters in action and to view Kimball’s excellent track facilities. Come on weather man .... cooperate!

There was a junior high track meet held at Kimball yesterday (Wednesday) with Potter-Dix hosting and the Kimball team participating. Coming up on Thursday, April 21, the Kimball Junior High Team will host their own Invite with a start time of 9 a.m.

A rather slow week of area sports but things are going to really pick up now so stay tuned.
