Susan M. Calise, 72, of Kimball, died at her home in Kimball on Monday, May 9, 2016. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Burial was held in Kimball Cemetery. The services for Susan have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Susan Margaret Calise was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on February 19, 1944, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Meston) Adams. She was raised and attended school in Scottsbluff. Susan graduated from the Scottsbluff High School in 1962. She attended 2 years at Hiram Scott College in Scottsbluff. Susan met Frank Calise while he was attending Hiram Scott on a football scholarship. They were united in marriage on August 14, 1965 in Scottsbluff. The couple lived in Indianola for a year before moving to Kimball in 1969. Susan worked for Solar Petroleum, and later a local law firm. She was also a substitute teacher for Kimball Public Schools. She enjoyed spending time with the students and was active as a ticket taker at many of the sporting events. During the summers she enjoyed working in Yellowstone National Park as a reservation coordinator for the park.
Survivors include her son Frank Calise of Kimball, NE; daughter Christine Calise of Nevada; brother Steve (Jan) Adams of Chandler, AZ; and granddaughter Assunta Calise and fiancé Mark Nelson of Kimball, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
