Lavonne E. Christensen, 69, of Potter, died at Sidney Regional Medical Center on Saturday, May 28, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Prairie West Christian Church in Potter with Pastor Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Burial will be in the Potter Cemetery. Friend may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. to sign the register book and leave condolences for the family. The services for Lavonne have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball.
Lavonne Eileen Christensen was born on March 3, 1947, the daughter of Dale and Virginia (Zimmerman) Langley. The family lived in Potter and Lavonne attended school in Potter and graduated from the Potter High School in 1965. Following high school she moved to Kimball and worked for GRI and later moved back to Potter and went to work for the Potter Meat Locker. Lavonne was married to Jerry Christensen in Potter on August 7, 1971. Lavonne and Jerry lived and raised their family in Potter. She worked at the Golden Mug and Buffalo Bend as a cook. She was also active as a Cub Scout Pac leader and was a youth baseball coach. Lavonne drove a school bus for the Potter/Dix Schools. She was also active in getting the Potter Museum started. She enjoyed bird watching, camping and fishing and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her son Ryan (Tonya) Christensen of Sidney, NE; daughter Crystal (Bob) Schliep of Sutherland, NE; brothers Russ (Ida Mae) Langley of Anaheim, CA., Larry (Karen) Langley of Sidney, NE., Calvin (Susan) Langley, of Sidney, NE., and Steve (Patty) Langley of Sidney, NE; sister-in-law and best friend Heather Lipska of Potter; grandchildren Dakota (Henry Henderson) Schliep, Ashley and Jacob Green and Cole, Isabelle, Zoey, Jaici, and Cooper Christensen; great grandchildren Dillon Henderson and Zayn and Kynide Green. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
