Marrian "Marge" Hennings

Marrian "Marge" Joan Hennings, 86, of Kimball, died at her home in Kimball on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kimball with Father Robert Karnish officiating. Burial will follow at the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 22, from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to be provided to the Kimball Friendship Senior Center. Marrian Joan Hennings  was born in Kimball on September 11, 1929 to Charles and Julia (Flynn) Armstrong, homesteaders from Iowa. Marge was the youngest of four children raised on the Armstrong farm near Peetz, Colorado. A rural grade school provided her primary education and then, after her mother passed away at a young age, Marge attended Saint Patrick's Academy in Sidney, Nebraska. After graduating high school, Marge earned her teaching certificate and taught at a rural school near Comstock, Nebraska. There she met Laurence "Larry" Hennings, a local bank teller and her favorite dance partner. They were married in a double wedding ceremony with their friends at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Sargent, Nebraska on August 30, 1950.   Marge was carrying their first child when Larry left for the Korean War. After he safely returned in 1953 the couple began a decade-long journey of transfers as Larry worked his way to store manager at F.W. Woolworths. During that time, the family grew to include six children with each child being born in different towns of Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming. The family settled in Cody, Wyoming where Marge continued as a busy homemaker while also enjoying part-time work at the store. After Larry retired from Woolworths in 1977, they decided to open and co-operate a hardware store in Bridger, Montana. They sold the hardware store and moved to Lewistown, Montana in 1985 after their youngest child left for college. Marge enjoyed working at the Lewistown credit bureau until she and Larry eventually retired to Kimball to be close to family. Marge was devoted to her family and to the Catholic Church. She also enjoyed genealogy, music, reading and had a special fondness for horses that could be traced back to her childhood years on the family farm. She also was very fond of Kimball and the many ties to the community that developed during the early and late stages of her life in the area.

Her survivors include children Deborah Phillips, David (Marilyn), Gary, Steven (Julianne), Kathleen, and Pamela Marsh; grandchildren Donald, Brian, Jennifer, Erin, John, Laura, Jenna and Connor; great-grandchildren Sheldon, Ethan, Jackson, Sydney, Parker, Olivia, John Henry and Sarah, and Marge's sister Patricia Davis. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her brothers Leo, William "Bill", and infant brother Ambrose; her sisters-in-law Phyllis Holmes, and Margaret and Dorothy Armstrong; her brothers-in-law Donald "Don" Hennings, Robert "Maurice" Holmes and Wayne Davis; and son-in-law, Terry Phillips.
