Robert E. “Bob” Christiansen, 86, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Barry Johnson officiating. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the family. The services for Bob have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Robert Ercelle Christiansen was born in Callaway, Nebraska on July 22, 1930, the son of Julius and Ruth (Deininger) Christiansen. He was raised and attended school in Callaway. He moved with his family to Kimball in 1946 when his father purchased the American National Bank. Bob worked for Curley’s Machine Works. He went to school to become a barber and then owned and operated a barber shop in Kimball. He then finished out his career working for the railroad. He retired in 1990. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and playing cards at the senior center. He was a Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Bob was a member of the Assembly of God Church and church was an important part of his life.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Christiansen of Kimball, NE; son John (Shelley) Christiansen of Lemoyne, NE; sister-in-law Vivian Christiansen of Brighton, CO; grandchildren Joel Christiansen, Aaron (Meridith) Christiansen and Andy (Amanda) Christiansen; 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Robert and Patrick Christiansen; daughters Mary Leslie Christiansen and Laines Christiansen; brother Jack Christiansen and sister Gwen Lubeck.
