85th Annual Potter Days September 1, 2 & 3

Potter Days kicks off its 85th year on September 1, 2016 with the crowning of Miss Potter Days at the Legion Hall on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Friday’s events start at noon with burgers, pies, coffee and more at the Youth Center Stand followed by kids games starting at 2:30 downtown. The Village Shop will feature ag and household exhibits from 2 until 5 p.m. A two mile Glow run/walk Friday night starts on the corner of Front and Chestnut with registration beginning at 8:30 and the run starts at 9 p.m. Cost is $15 per adult and $10 for 6th grade and under. Fireworks will follow around 9:30 or immediately after the glow run.

“It’s All About the Bling” is the theme for this year’s parade which starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and spotlights the Class of 1966 as Grand Marshals.

Everyone is welcome to come out and show Potter your “bling”.

The Youth Center Stand will be open all day along with the Depot and downtown museum which will be open to the public from 9 until 2 p.m.

The Airlink helicopter will land at the Potter Fire Hall at 11 a.m.

If you are looking for some competitive sports, there will be a Co-ed Sand Volleyball competition that starts at 11 and Turkey Bowling will be featured at the bowling alley from 11 till 12:30 and 2:30 until 3:30.

The Show-N-Shine Car Display will be downtown throughout the day.

There will be a free barbecue starting at noon followed by the Legion Show at 1:30 p.m.

The Potter-Dix Cheerleaders is sponsoring a ‘duck race’ downtown at 3 p.m. with a free watermelon feed immediately after.

The evening will wind up at Bags’ Bar at 6 with Huskers football playing against Fresno State.

Sign up early for the 4 person scramble Golf Tournament at Prairie Pines Golf Course. Registration starts at 10 a.m. with tee time at 10:30.
