Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Nebraska Department of Revenue approved the $162,575 contract for Stanard Appraisal Services, Inc. to complete work for the Kimball County Assessor’s Office.
This information was received by Sherri Winstrom, Kimball County Assessor and relayed to the Board of Equalization at their regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
The Kimball County Assessor’s Office has already sent out letters to residents regarding the upcoming reappraisal of all improved properties located within the county. This includes all rural residential, commercial and finally residential buildings, in that order, with rural residential being the first properties to be assessed beginning Sept. 19.
The letter explains that the review will include photographing and measuring all property, confirming or correcting the data the county has on file and evaluating any updates or unfinished areas, specifically assessing bathrooms and bathroom count, kitchens, utility rooms, basements and bedroom counts.
Although the letter states that it is not vital to enter your home, it is beneficial for an accurate valuation of your property. The letter also clearly states that they will not enter any buildings without the owner present.
Over the next several months, appraisers from Stanard Appraisal Services will be accompanied by a local Kimball County Assessor’s office employee as they reappraise the area. All professionals will be wearing or carrying proper identification. The vehicles will be clearly marked with “Kimball County Assessor” in magnetic signage.
All assessors have been informed that if they have any troubles with residents that they have the right to contact the Sheriff’s office.
