Lady Coyotes shut out week

The Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes, ranked third in class D-2 rankings for Nebraska, racked up three more wins last week, bringing their season to 21-1 going into the MAC tournament, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15.

At the Kimball triangular on Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Coyotes won against the Bayard Tigers 2-0 with matching sets of 25-9.

The Lady Coyotes racked up 24 kills against the Bayard team, with Alexus Rozelle contributing seven, followed by Dawson Sharman with six, Audrey Juelfs with five, Trinity Langley with four, and Lanie Thies with two.

Langley and Sharman each served up two aces and the Potter-Dix offense was rounded out with a total of 19 assists – 15 from Thies and one each from Rozelle, Langley, Sharman and Juelfs.

Defensively Sharman was credited with eight digs, followed by Juelfs and Rozelle with seven each, and six each for Payge Hoffman and Thies. Langley, who was credited with the only solo block, added two digs as well.

To complete the day, the Lady Coyotes bested their hosts, the Kimball Lady Longhorns, 2-0 as well with sets of 25-17 and 25-16.

Rozelle led the attack with ten kills followed by Langley and Juelfs with four each and Sharman with three.

Langley served up two aces and Juelfs added one while Thies added 21 assists.

Defense was strong against the Lady Horns, Rozelle had two solo blocks with one block assist and teammates Hoffman, Langley and Juelfs each added one block assist.

Juelfs led with 13 digs followed by Langley with 10, Sharman and Rozelle with eight each, Thies with four and Hoffman with two.

With just one day of rest, the Lady Coyotes traveled to Caliche, Colo., on Thursday, Oct. 6, for a 3-0 win over the Buffaloes led offensively by Langley with 14 attacks, three aces, and an assist as well as three digs and a solo block, defensively.

The defensive leader for the Potter-Dix club was Payge Hoffman with 17 digs, as well as an assist and one kill.

In the battle against the Lady Buffs, Sharman was credited with 11 attacks, 13 digs, and an assist and Rozelle added seven kills, six digs and an assist.

Thies shined with a total of 31 assists, 10 digs, one solo block, two aces and a kill and teammate Juelfs added six kills, two aces, 13 digs, and an assist.

Following the win in Colorado the Potter-Dix girls hosted their own triangular on Monday, Oct. 10, with the Wallace Wildcats (12-3) and the Garden County Eagles (2-18) for back-to-back 2-0 shutouts. Stats for those games are currently unavailable.
